Why Does My Thumb Impression Get Rejected?

The Left Thumb Impression (LTI) is a crucial security feature used by banking and government portals. If your fingerprint ridges are blurred, merged together, or too dark to be machine-read, your application can be rejected.

How the LTI Enhancer Works

Taking a photo of a thumb impression usually results in grey paper and faded ink. When you select the "True Blue" or "Jet Black" ink filter, ExamReady's algorithm mathematically separates the fingerprint ridges from the background. It turns the paper bright white and boosts the contrast of the ink, mimicking the quality of an expensive flatbed scanner.

Tips for the Perfect Impression

• Do not press your thumb too hard onto the stamp pad, as it will flood the ridges with ink.
• Press your thumb firmly onto a clean sheet of white paper without rolling it.
• Take a photo from directly above in bright daylight. Do not use your phone's flash, as it creates glare.
